Fun Facts About Cannabis, Sex, and Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re high on love or high on a lovely, aromatic sativa, cannabis and Valentine’s Day go together like Rihanna and fashion-forward maternity clothes.

In the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, sales increased dramatically for cannabis products marketed with “sexy” adjectives. Wholesale cannabis platform LeafLink offered some intriguing data.

Sales of products with the word, “Love” went up 247% between Jan. 29-Feb. 9. It’s not that surprising considering the powerful effect of emotions on shopping decisions.

Though it’s comforting to believe shoppers aren’t so easily manipulated, LeafLink reported products with the word “Valentine” sold 4,843% more than usual this year.

LeafLink reported products with the word “Valentine” sold 4,843% more than usual Jan. 29-Feb. 9 of this year.

But is this is a case of shopper’s succumbing to clever marketing, or are more people celebrating with cannabis than ever before? Verano Holdings commissioned a study to find out.

Wired Research conducted a survey among 961 nationally representative Americans over the age of 21 and found 61% planned to incorporate cannabis into their 2023 Valentine’s Day plans.

One in four of those respondents believe cannabis improves sexual performance.

And is it sexy young singles showing up with a new kind of flower for their lover? Nope. Parents are more likely than non-parents to gift cannabis to their partner this year.

Stigma around the plant is slowly waning and each state that legalizes brings in a new wave of cannabis-friendly shoppers.

For instance, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, and New Jersey all legalized in the last 12 months. Wired Research reported adults in the Northeast are most likely to include cannabis in their V-Day plans compared to those in other regions. Coincidence?

As more people decide to use cannabis to spread the love as opposed to alcohol, companies are also stepping up their efforts to promote safe consumption.

One company in Colorado went so far as to partner with the Department of Transportation (DOT) to encourage responsible use during the holiday.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to stay off the roads if they’ve been using cannabis products this Valentine’s Day.

Native Roots Cannabis Co., in partnership with CDOT, is handing out “safety flowers” featuring artificial cannabis plants as a reminder to never drive while impaired.

The company is also waving delivery fees on Feb. 14, to encourage would-be drivers to stay home and enjoy their products responsibly.

However and with whomever you choose to share your love this V-Day, partake safely and consider trying a cannabis lubricant, canna-cocktail, or cannabis body paint to spice things up.

Even if you keep it mellow with a simple edible or a sampling of fresh flower, cannabis can add a lot of heat to your romantic endeavors.

Don’t take this author’s word for it; just ask CannaSexual sex coach Ashley Manta. “Cannabis can have a decidedly positive impact on romance and intimacy, especially on occasions like Valentine’s Day where there are so many external stresses and pressures to make the day special.”
